The Story

Fiona Devlin has one year to save her father's life, and only one way to do it: sign herself over to Miles Kessler as his Exclusive Companion, no exit clause, no coming back the same.

She learns to perform devotion for a man who mistakes her silence for surrender, cataloging every crack in his control while she waits for her moment.

But she isn't the only one watching. Julian Vane, the Ledger's head of security, has been paying attention far longer than she realizes, and far closer than either of them can afford.

Some debts can't be paid in money. Some cages only open from the inside, if you're patient enough to find the latch.

Miles Kessler wears the billionaire, dark-CEO trope like a suit — but he is the captor here, not the love interest. The romance belongs to Julian Vane, the man watching far closer than either of them can afford.

captor/captive · the contract as cage · “who did this to you” · revenge romance · protector/bodyguard romance · forced proximity · possessive hero

Heat level: Scorching. Two fully on-page scenes (Ch. 18 and Ch. 26) — both Julian's, both consensual, both about her reclaiming what was taken.

Before You Go In

Dark romance. Part of that darkness is a captivity that's never eroticized. Fiona's chapters with Miles are filtered through dissociation — a violation, not a seduction, and the book never asks you to read it as anything else. The intimacy, and the explicit content, belongs entirely to Julian.

Not present, here or in anything I write: harm to animals. Ever. Humans are fair game.
